Snorkeling in Key Largo
on
Saturday, Feb. 18th

It's been 2.5 years since we've made a day trip down to Key Largo for Snorkeling! This trip has 3 dive spots and 2 hours of water time, increasing your chances of seeing colorful fish and corals.

  What to expect...
7:30 - 8 am Carpools leave Palm Beach County (Anyone leaving from Broward, plan accordingly to arrive around 10:30)
10:30 am ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) at Key's Diver.
Because they are giving us a price break and we are using Outlanders tax exempt certificate, we must pay in one single transaction. So, you'll need $33 CASH to pay Scott. You'll also need $2-$3 cash to tip the boat crew.
11:00 am Once everyone arrives and we check in as a group, sign the waivers, etc. you'll have time to look around at nearby souvinier shops or eat an early lunch at Wendy's right next door to the dive shop. To save money, you can also bring your lunch in a small cooler and eat it before boarding the boat or on the boat. (I will double check to see if this is allowed.)
12:15 Boat departs dock.
There are 3 dive spots and 2 hours of water time, increasing your chances of seeing colorful fishies or admiring the coral.
5 pm Boat returns back at the dock. (It's been a few years, but last time they had an arrangement with the hotel for their customers to use the showers and changing rooms. I'll double check on that, but you might want to bring a bath cloth, towel, soap, and change of clothes if those facilities are still available to the snorkel tour customers.)
6 pm Dinner at The Fish House in Key Largo. Plan on $25-$35 for dinner, unless you're the salad and water type. Then $10-12 might be sufficient.
Equipment Snorkeling gear is provided at no charge, or you may bring your own. Wetsuits are availabe for rent.
Gas & Tolls Depending on how many people are in the car you ride in and what kind of gas mileage it gets, plan on $12-$18 for gas and tolls. A gas mileage chart will be mailed out as we coordinate who's riding with who. As usual, most people will want to ride and not drive. We need people with bigger, more comfortable cars, minivans or suv's to drive and take some passengers. Please let Scott or Susan know if you are willing to drive and how many could fit in your car and about where you live so we can pair you up with others nearby who need a ride.
Grand Total Between the fast food lunch, snorkeling, tip, dinner, tip, gas & tolls, etc., plan on spending $75-$90 for the day. Most people will probably spend about $80. If you bring your lunch, have salad and water for dinner, and have four people in an economical car, you might squeak by for $65. Those who eat lunch at Wendy's, rent a wetsuit or snorkelling gear, want lobster or steak for dinner and some Key Lime Pie for desser, who rode in a car with just 2-3 people, they're going to spend just over $100 for the day. Remember, you'll need $50-$60 in CASH to pay for the snorkeling, boat crew tip, and gas and toll money for the driver of the car you ride in.
